Golf is indeed the best game in the world. Sure, it can sometimes be frustrating and infuriating, but there’s nothing quite like the feeling of bouncing a perfectly struck ball into a hole. And if you play with friends (or even just guys), it can be even more fun. But how do you ensure your next golf getaway goes off without a hitch? In this post, we’ll give you some tips on planning your perfect golf weekend together with the boys.
1- Choose Your Golf Course
Choosing your golf course is essential in planning the perfect golf day. You want to ensure that you choose a course with a range of skill levels so that everyone can enjoy themselves, but also one that isn’t too challenging for your lower-skilled players.
If you’re traveling from out of town, try to pick a course close by because it will make it easier for people to get there. As well as picking one nearby, it’s always nice if there are some excellent restaurants or bars nearby too!
2- Plan Meals at the Right Time
You don’t want to plan a meal before you head out to the course or immediately after you return. This can be a huge distraction and take away from your round of golf.
Likewise, it’s not a good idea to plan a meal for the same time as your round of golf. You’ll either get hungry too soon or overeat, which are great scenarios for enjoying yourself on the course.
3- Bring the Right Drinks
You should bring the right drinks for the right occasion, time of day, time of year, and time in life.
For example, wine or champagne for a wedding is appropriate because it is celebratory. And beer or bourbon would be good after dinner at a friend’s house on the patio (assuming you know your host doesn’t mind). But when planning a golf day with your buddies, it’s best to stick with water and sodas so everyone can stay hydrated while playing in hot weather.
4- Pack the Right Supplies
Pack the right cigars for your day. It’s essential to bring a few of your favorite sticks. You’ll also want to include a lighter, cutter, and cigar holder. And don’t forget a hygrometer!
When selecting cigars for golfing trips, remember that you don’t need to bring an entire box. Try bringing one or two premium hand-rolled stogies that will last throughout (and beyond) the day. It’s much easier than carrying around an entire box with you all day—and it makes it more likely that everyone can enjoy one of your favorites!
5-Build in Relaxation Time
One of the best things you can do is build some relaxation time at the end of your weekend golf trip. This could mean a movie, a massage, or even a trip to the spa. Be sure to plan for it so that you have enough time off work and everyone has taken care of all their other responsibilities.
If you spend two whole days on the course, then it makes sense to give yourself an hour or two (or more) at the end of each day where all you do is chill out with food and drinks before returning home.
You have to be careful about planning your golf day. It’s not like planning any other event; it can be a lot of work. But if you follow these six tips, you’ll have a great time on the course with your buddies.
