In 2025, powering things via an outlet can feel like second nature to many who live in the US. Whether it be appliances, smart phones, any other miscellaneous gadget, electricity is used always and often. This way of life has become so popular that the US is currently at its highest levels of energy consumption ever. In fact, from this peak, it is expected to grow 50% higher in the next 25 years. This is because, in addition to this existing lifestyle, trends like electric vehicles and artificial intelligence are expected to add between 185 to 270 Terawatt Hours combined. This is between 6 times and 9 times the annual power consumption of Ireland. So how can the US prepare for this increasing power demand?
Right now, the US grid is both outdated and inefficient. Most transmission cables and residential transformers within the grid are nearing their end of life, and will need to be replaced. Fortunately, replacement transformers are much better equipped for both current power needs and future consumption. This new infrastructure is more efficient and lacks the wear-and-tear damage from the current grid infrastructure. Ultimately, the US is growing and innovating at rapid speeds. The best solution to keep up with power demand of tomorrow is by upgrading its transformers today.
