Working between Los Angeles and Beijing, Lu leads festival identities and exhibition graphics—combining systemic rigor with human-centered storytelling from Beijing 751 International Design Week to city-scale projects in Suzhou.
Los Angeles / Beijing — October 2025 — Di Lu is a designer and creative director whose practice spans brand identity systems, exhibition graphics, books, and user-centered interfaces. Through InProcess Design Studio, she collaborates with institutions and brands to deliver work that balances clarity, aesthetics, and human resonance. A graduate of the University of Southern California, Lu connects cultural narratives with contemporary design systems—pairing rigorous structure with storytelling that speaks to lived experience.
In 2023, Lu directed the main visual system for Beijing 751 International Design Week, a large-scale program of exhibitions and talks. Her design explored the themes of “Return” and “Heritage,” using layered geometry and striking color palettes to establish a cohesive visual language. Deployed across posters, signage, and media platforms, the system anchored wayfinding and communications and shaped the experience for thousands of visitors.

Lu has applied a similarly integrated approach to Suzhou International Design Week (2021), where her team’s vibrant graphics animated historic streets with a contemporary atmosphere. That same year, she contributed to Universe Work 2021, managing creative direction and the production pipeline in close coordination with local manufacturers. Across these projects, Lu demonstrates fluency from concept to execution—moving from design strategy and system building to the practicalities of vendor collaboration and on-site deployment.
Her work has received international recognition, including the A’ Design Award and the iF Design Award, acknowledgments that reflect both creative ingenuity and the operational skill required to realize complex, multi-stakeholder projects. Colleagues note her capacity to maintain typographic precision and systemic rigor while steering schedules and cross-functional teams under tight deadlines.
Alongside commissioned work, Lu sustains a personal practice attentive to the psychological dimensions of contemporary life. Her series Shadow examines the experience of social anxiety through abstract forms and layered imagery, giving visual shape to hesitation, silence, and self-consciousness. By articulating these interior states, the work resonates with audiences who recognize the tension between private vulnerability and the demands of a hyper-connected world.
Lu’s commitment to design as a civic and educational practice extends to community and institutional engagement.
