Jobs of the Future: How Work has Been Forever Changed

The way that humans work as we know it is changing. Workers today now change jobs 5.7 times on average, compared to 2-3 job changes for older generations. In addition, many workers aren’t satisfied with their current jobs. Many quit their jobs because they were not able to work remotely. In fact, 100% of 18-24 year old workers would switch jobs to be able to work from home. These numbers are not shocking to experts, as remote work can increase happiness outside of work.

This shift in feelings has many wondering, what will the future of work look like? Experts predict that there will be more places to work, smaller organizations will take off, hierarchies will be dismantled, and there will be a greater emphasis on wellness. The most important skills will be visualizing data, problem solving, and emotional intelligence, among many others. In addition, healthcare workers,  software developers, managers, and food service workers, and researchers will be among the fastest growing occupations.

Work as we know it has been forever changed by the COVID-19 pandemic and its repercussions. As we begin to see the next generation of workers enter the workforce, one question remains: Are you prepared for the jobs of the future?
